Discrimination, Harassment, and Retaliation

Discrimination, Harassment, and Retaliation

The University's Addressing Discrimination, Harassment, and Retaliation (DHR) Policy prohibits discrimination and harassment on the basis of age, color, disability, family medical or genetic information, gender identity or expression, marital status, military status (which includes active duty service members, reserve service members, and dependents), national or ethnic origin, political affiliation, pregnancy, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, or veteran status. Please note that sexual harassment and gender-based harassment is prohibited by a separate University policy, the Sexual Misconduct Policy.

The University also prohibits retaliation which is adverse or negative action taken against an individual because they:

  1. complained about discrimination, harassment, or retaliation under the DHR Policy;
  2. assisted, testified in, participated, or refused to participate in an investigation, resolution process, or other proceeding related to a complaint of discrimination, harassment, or retaliation
  3. requested an accommodation for disability, pregnancy, or religion.

The University’s Office for Equal Opportunity and Civil Rights (EOCR), which enforces these policies, provides detailed information on the EOCR website, including how to access confidential and other relevant University resources and options for resolution.
